Post-Exams Day 5

No Comment - Post a comment

Watched IP Man 2, definitely a must-watch show. Last scene leaves guessing whether there would be IP Man 3 with Bruce Lee as a disciple. However, I read from Wikipedia that IP Man accept Bruce when the former was 70 years old. So I guess even if there would be a part 3, the focus will not be on Donnie Yen anymore.

Finally manage to kick some ball after months of inactivity. Stamina dropped tremendously as I was seen grasping for air and running at snail pace in the first half. I would want to believe that it was actually due to the humid weather (Bella always said I live in denial)

Red Cliff

Saturday night, Bella and me met up with Roy, Grace and Gavin for the movie "Red Cliff" at Bishan. It was quite a sudden arrangement as the decision was made via MSN only at around evening time.

Unfortunately, most of the seats were filled up when I made the booking at 5pm. Not wanting to miss the movie, we made one of the worse decision in life that haunted us for quite some time after the movie. Ya, I made the booking of Row B.

Nevertheless, it is a nice movie (at least to me). And my favorite character is "Guan Gong", yeah the god that most of the people in Hong Kong pray to. Resemblance is close to 80% (at least to me)!!!

After the movie, we went for supper at Kovan's Teochew Porridge. We happily tuck in and chit chat away when we forgot one important thing. Peektures!! No Picture Talk What?

Left: The game Bella is playing.
Right: Silly Bella think she can hide herself just like that? TRY HARDER wahah RAHH

Stephen Chow's upcoming movie : CJ7

No Comment - Post a comment

CJ7 (Chinese: 長江七號 Chang Jiang qi hao) is an upcoming 2008 science fiction/comedy film written, produced and directed by Stephen Chow, who also stars in the film.

Chow plays a man who lives in a partly demolished house. He takes in a homeless boy (who is actually played by a girl, Xu Jiao). Whether the semi-demolished house and the homeless boy are on Earth, or on the alien planet is not clear. As Chow's character can't afford to buy a toy for the child, he finds a makeshift toy in the garbage and brings it back to his "son". The "toy" is actually a powerful alien device and the aliens are desperate to get it back.[4] Some rumours state that it is a "pet" rather than a "toy".[5]

Jet Li breaks film salary record

No Comment - Post a comment

Jet Li has broken the record as the highest earning actor in a Chinese-language film after raking in 100m yuan (£6.5m) for his latest movie.

The 44-year-old action star will receive the record-busting salary for his role in The Warlords, a war epic based on a Qing Dynasty story.

Nearly half of the 300m yuan (£19.3m) budget for the film went to the cast.

He also held the previous salary record for his role in the 2002 film Hero, where he earned 70m yuan (£4.6m).

Director Peter Chan said Li was a "guarantee" for global sales.

"Without Jet Li, we would not dare to invest 300m yuan in a Chinese-language film," he told Xinhua news agency.

Chinese-language movies have registered a string of hits in the past few years, such as Ang Lee's martial arts tale Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and ancient history epic, Hero.

The former national kung fu champion made his name in Hong Kong films in the 1990s before moving on to Hollywood, where he starred in films including Lethal Weapon 4 and Kiss of the Dragon.

He is currently filming The Mummy 3, playing a resurrected ancient Chinese emperor.

The Warlords is due to be released in Asia in December.

The Warlords, previously known as The Blood Brothers (simplified Chinese: 投名状; traditional Chinese: 投名狀), is a 2007 Chinese / Hong Kong martial arts / drama film directed by Peter Chan and starring Andy Lau, Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro. The film was released on 13 December 2007 simultaneously in most of Asia, except Japan.[1]

The film is set in the 1860s, during the Taiping Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty in China.
